I pasted this into this thread, because it belongs here, not in Shabby Chic.

"Pretty in pink" - cute to have the papyrus backed by glyphs. Maybe a
better (as in subtler) shot would have been just the papyrus shadows
against them, if it was available anywhere?

"When wood was cheap" and "Bad balloon day" - neither of these work for
me and I can't see what you are trying to do with either of them.
Possibly this is down to the medium of display.

"Yum, duck leftovers" - as opposed to cat and/or dog, I am a sucker for
fish pictures, so this appeals to me just on that level. I would have
liked to see the fish swimming towards me but I'll take what comes.
Bright, with just enough reflection. Maybe a polariser might have
improved it but I am not sure. Only the tail missing on the right for
composition debit marks. BTW, that looks like an Emu reflected above
the right hand fish.... 8-)

"Untitled" - this is probably the picture of the batch for me. Again,
the medium lets it down and I would have like the left hand edge to have
been more decisive; either in or out. An unusual "Rite of Spring" picture.

I don't have anything to add to what others have said about the rest of
the pics on the page. Indeed, as I was not online last night and have
not caught up yet, I may be being redundant here. 8-)

Wow, great feedback.

Well, When Wood was Cheap and Bad Ballon Day are interesting to me, but they
are just lousy shots, technical-wise. Too much handholding shake.

I looked at Pretty in Pink later and realized the papyrus obscured one of the
glyphs (the main one). I'd only taken a few shots, so I didn't have one where
it didn't. Shadows would be cool too.

Yum, Duck Leftovers was one of several fish shots. But, yeah, I wanted a
polarizer, and I wasn't happy the upper fish went off the frame, but that was
the
best shot of the bunch. I realized later, I could have been happy setting up a
tripod and really taking a LOT of fish shots. I don't see that many goldfish
that size anymore.

(I just bought a circular polarizer. ;-))

I really, really liked untitled too. It's either my favorite, or in my top
three. I have more shots, but that is the best. They went off the frame to the
left because they spread out in that direction and it was hard to figure out
where to cut them off with the frame. Again, this is a place I could have been
happy taking lots of shots, the sunlight was falling on them just right. Set up
a tripod and do some macros too. But I was moving around taking as many
different kind of shots as I could just because it was that kind of day.

If I was in the area, I'd go back to concentrate those last two subjects
more.

Thanks a lot for the great feedback, exactly the kind of thing I like to
hear, so I can improve next time. I really don't mind critiques, at all. In
fact,
I like them.

Thanks, thanks, thanks. And thanks again. (To match my drats of before.)

Marnie ;-)
