Congratulations Shel - great camera: "A" on the lens and "Auto" on the body means "All Auto".
Turn the aperture ring away from "A" and you've got "Aperture Priority". Or - turn the body setting away from Auto (keep lens on "A") and you have "Shutter Priority" Or turn both away from "A"/"Auto" and youhave Manual control.
