The F 50/2.8 Macro is bitingly sharp. However, it is annoying to work with for manual focus. I've used the A 50/2.8 and the F 50/2.8 side-by-side before. The A 50 is just a tad less sharp, but it is ~so~ much nicer to use - I no longer have the F 50's (I had a chance to try two of 'em), but I still have the A. Fred
