I agree with Paul, when my autofocus quit I had to remove
the old batteries, put in a new set and wait almost 30
minutes before everything went back to normal.
Not only do low batteries do wierd things, it appears
that it takes a bit to recover from the wierd too.
Hasn't acted up since.
