i never use rechargeables for more than a few minutes when the temps are
below freezing. i also don't use my Microdrive. if i have to use
rechargeables, i always have a spare set inside a coat pocket. rechargeable
Lithiums suffer less from this problem, but they are not easily available
yet, and they still haven't standardized on a connection for the recharging.

The nimh batteries in my isDS go low very quickly when I've been out
shooting in 20F or lower temperatures... especially with auto bracketing.
