Collin,

If you can open the notebook computer's case, you will find a
tiny button cell battery inside that keeps the CMOS alive when
the notebook is turned off, or when the main battery is dead.
If you can disable that battery, by removing it, you will cause
it to forget the password along with all other CMOS settings.

The best thing to do, before you do this, is to bring up the
CMOS setting screen at boot-up, and write all of the settings
down on paper so that you can put them back in when you
reconnect/reinstall the CMOS battery.

The method used to bring up the CMOS settings screen varies
according to who made the computer. Sometimes it's
Ctrl-Alt-Insert, sometimes you have to hit the Delete key at the
proper time in the bootup sequence.

Sometimes the thing to do is to contact the manufacturer and ask
for directions on that specific make and model. A competent
computer repair shop should be able to take care of this for
you. I'm pretty sure I could do it but it could take a while
because of the differences between makes of computers. The
shipping charges for me to do it would probably not be worth it.
