Right...I'm not really keen on "integrated" profiles, as they may or may not represent what's truly in the camera. I suspect that in at least the high-end ones they've either obtained the data from Pentax, or shot an IT8 target themselves. Most photographers here use Mac/Windows based solutions for RAW conversion and images editing so camera profiles aren't need as all mainstream PEF capable convertors have integrated profiles. A few budgetary constrained listers use GIMP but otherwise there has never been a request before that I'm aware of.
Gimp's almost unbelievable apathy towards high bit depth is truly staggering. I've tried Cinepaint, but I've had bad luck with its stability, and it's based on a fairly old version of the Gimp. Basically, I won't use Gimp for anything, unless it started out as an 8-bit file when I got it.
That might be useful. Aside from the Bayer interpolation, you could use dcraw to get out a linear TIFF file. We'll see if they ever answer my email first.Well I could possibly help as I own IT8 targets which could be used in conjunction with XLProfiler under (shudder) Windows however I have no means by which to obtain a non-profiled linear gamma TIFF conversion from my RAW files.
