Ah, the Nikon F2 ... I agree, one of the very best mechanical 35mm SLRs ever made. Built like a tank for sure, weighs like one too. I had Nikon F, F2 and F3/T in the top end Nikon line. They were all brilliant. Then the F4 came out and I was turned off .. too too big and heavy. In the end, I preferred the FM/FE line. Much lighter, easier to carry, very nearly as rugged (particularly the FM2).
That's funny, it was the F4 that sent me packing my Nikons up and selling them.
Through they years, I had an F (non Photomic), the F2s, and an F3 HP, in addition to an FM-2 and an FE.
One of the things I never liked about Nikon was my inability to afford good glass for it. Pentax, at the time, was about 2/3 the dollar cost for equivalent quality lenses, and I have come to quite appreciate some of the aspects of Pentax lenses that are missing from Nikon glass.
But I just had to have another F2s, I think I might be getting senile.
