Depth of field has nothing to do with the characteristics of a particular lens. It is merely a function of aperture and Focal length. The answer is simple. The 77 limited will have a greater depth of field at any focusing distance, with a commensurate wider field of view at that same distance due to it's shorter focal length and smaller maximum aperture. For example the 77/f1.8 ltd. would have a depth of field at one meter of .993 M to 1.07 M or a total DOF of .014 M or a little over 1/2 inch. The 75/f1.4 would have a depth of field at one meter of .996 M to 1.004 M or a total DOF of .009 M or a little over 1/3 inch.
