i found that applying the default #82 photo filter brings the colors more
into balance. this isn't in Photoshop Elements, i think.
I've been toying with doing this (adding a lens filter) to help
decrease the noise in extreme while balance situations. From looking at
the RAW data, it seems that the blue channel can be 1 full stop higher
than the red for a heavy overcast, and red 1 full stop more than blue in
tungsten lighting. I think an 85/82 filter on the *lens* will help
decrease the noise in the lower channels since they won't need to be
boosted as much.
