Well, most of the Limiteds came out before the DSLR's, and the 77mm LTD was, from what I can tell, intended to be used as a portrait lens, at the shorter end of that realm. I get similar FOV using my FA 50 on the *ist-DS, and find that to be just fine for portraits unless I really want a tight shot.

You'll have to remember that I will not be using these on an autofocus
body - it'll be strictly manual focus on my old K1000 (which I'm more than
happy to continue using as such) :) - so now you can all call me crazy for
doing such a thing :-)


I am very interested in your conclusions about using the 77 for
portraits without the crop. I may have missed some, but all the
portrait samples I saw in that thread about the 77 were on a -D(s).
Which is why I have never bothered with it[1].
