Thanks, Jack (and everyone else who commented). WRT to the scan of the print, I actually did burn the middle "exit" as it was way blown out, and dodge the one on the right, as it was really dark, to try to make all three look more or less the same (hopefully, not artificially so). WRT to the subject of the photo, believe it or not, they're one-way turnstiles in the Toronto subway. That particular exit is one where there are no attendants, so they want to make sure that no one can "jump the turnstiles" and get a free ride, as it were. I always thought they were a bit OTT. I mean, you should be able to trust your riders enough not to make them feel like their checking out of prison when they leave the subway, don't you think? There are several such one-way exits thoughout the system. When I first saw them as a kid (I was around 12 when I visited Toronto for the first time), they reminded me of those egg-slicers, and I imagined someone getting caught in them and neatly sliced into a dozen or so layers <vbg>. Anyway, thanks to all who commented (and who may yet comment). I've got another (different take) of the same gate that I may yet print up. cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson
