my example of the DA 14 shows that it is the worst performing of the lenses 
i tested today. the FA* 24/2 did better until about f16.

Back to the discussion relating to popular perception. Lots of people have
indicated that they feel the the DA 16-45 is sharp wide open but some also 
said
the same about the DA14, FA24 and FA24-90. The later two lenses I have 
first
hand experience with, I've tested them formally and informally and don't
particularly care for either, the A24/2.8 beats them both optically at 
24mm.
