Objection noted. The vertical orientation of the bird makes me want to accentuate the vertical. The space on the LH side detracts from that orientation. I wouldn't necessarily crop it all away. I probably would have used the vertical length as the longest dimension and kept (1.5:1.0) proportions to do horizontal crop.
