I can only assume that the shutter must be in the light path as there is no room for in in front of the sensor and behind the beam splitter and it must be closed for a very shot period of time after the shutter is depressed as the lag before image capture is less than 100ms. I expect that the aperture leaves are used as a leaf shutter but I can't remember noticing it.
