Jim, These printers are designed for high volume printing. The 8400 will clean itself when powered on and after sitting for a certain amount without printing. The cleaning process requires dumping a considerable amount of ink through the head and into a waste tray. The ink is NOT cheap. These are really designed for business settings and are impractical for personal use. You may want to discuss your anticipated print volume with someone from Xerox before buying one of these printers.
