No surprise that the RSE works better, since the Pentax Photo Lab is truly rough.
See details enlarged in my 2003 test:

Scroll down, almost to the end of the page, where you can see crops enlarged 400%.

Yes, I know that pictures are not meant to be observed 400%. These crops just show that RAW conversion has to be made far better than that if you want to print large prints retaining natural look.

Subject: Test of details: RAWShooter Essentials vs. Pentax Photolaboratory

Hello together,

having downloaded RSE 2005 and tested it, I mutated to a real fan of this freeware product.

Yesterday I put it to the test with the Pentax Photolaboratory an got some impressive results:
http://www.im-auftrag-des-herrn-unterwegs.de/pentax/rawtest/ (in German!)

For those of you who are not able to understand my German, Google _tries_ to transalte it for you: :-)
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.im-auftrag-des-herrn-unterwegs.de%2Fpentax%2Frawtest%2F&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

In my eyes, RSE is the winner. It should be visible IMHO...

The test is probably discussed in the German forum digitalfotonetz.de in thread http://forum.digitalfotonetz.de/viewtopic.php?t=14709

Comments welcome!

N8, Johannes.
