Hi all - thanks for the feedback.

A few mentioned the unusual sky.   This was a bit of a bonus as I was
just aiming to capture the colours of the ground formations in the
late afternoon light.  The unusual wispy clouds certainly enhanced
the image - but it was a bit of a fluke.

John - yes, a tripod was used in late afternoon. Speed 1/30 sec.

Mark R - hmmm, does have a certain pop star ring to it, I agree.

David N - the geology does have that lunar landscape appearance.  In
this case the term 'lunette' refers to a cresent-shaped dune.
