T,
I bid $100 on that lens and was out bid with hours left on the suction. Seeing as it's about $114 shipped (to me) from B&H and he wanted $10 for shipping per the Ebay description, I didn't go any higher. I don't know where it ended up.

It ended a little higher than I expected. But the buyer is still getting a nice lens, and a price lower than they could walk into your average camera store and get. It may not have been B&H pricing, but it wasn't crazy either. Remember, it came with a 49mm UV filter too. That's worth a few dollars also.

And I consider $10.00 reasonable for shipping/handling because:
* Approximately $6.00 postage( Priority mail ) , plus $0.40 delivery confirmation.
* Sometimes I end up buying a box (ok, not this time).
* I had to buy some bubble-wrap.
* eBay charges me their $5.00 or so to list, with commission.
* PayPal charges me 2.5% too since I buy and sell so much (for personal use) that I had to "upgrade" to a business account.

So when all's said and done, an auction on a $122 lens costs me around $13.00, give or take a little. And if anyone on this list has actually bought one of my lenses, I'm sure they would tell you that they've gotten clean, cared-for, well-wrapped items.

The price may have gone a couple dollars over what I expected, but the person who bought it obviously felt it was worth it to them to win. I've done the same thing myself. I know darn well I can get a SMC Pentax-DA 16-45 f/4 ED AL at B&H for $429, plus shipping, with no state sales tax. And yet, I walked into Sammy's Camera in Los Angeles where I live and walked out with the same lens for $450, because sometimes you've just gotta have it. ;)
