The later Konica Bodies weren't particularly robust, there are lots of Konica mount lenses in proportion to the very
few Bodies able to use them. Too bad they're not readily adaptable to Pentax K mount...

That 28/1.9 would be nice, but I've only seen it in screw mount. I
suppose a K version exists.

I remember pining for the 28/1.9. I'm still pining for it. Is it rare in
K-mount?

I guess that it's pretty uncommon in K-mount trim. The screwmount version seems to be more common, and (for some reason) I've seen more than of these inn Konica mount than I would have guessed.

The VS1 28/1.9 is indeed a fine lens - very nice to use, and optically
brilliant.

I see no baffling on the mount nor any evidence of machine work. [snip]
I also have a Vivitar S! 90/2.5 macro, again a very early version. It too
has a conventional k mount. However, itt doesn't have the aperture lever
shield. I don't think I've ever seen a lens with this extra baffling, but
I own very few non-Pentax lenses.

I recently sold my Vivitar Series 1 70-210/3.5 - it had the really long
extended collar/flange to protect the aperture-control lever.

Yes. I've never really seen any pattern to which lenses - by model and by year - have the extra baffle collar and which don't. I've got old VS1 lenses with them (although I've removed 'em on most), but I have other VS1 "oldies but goodies" that seemingly never came with the extra metal...
