Hi Don, thanks. I finally figured out I could test it myself on camera
for testing for closed circuit between the ground on flash hotshoe
(which is always the outer rails, with the center terminal being
positive, at least according to some ISO I think), and both parts of
the X-sync socket on the camera body - and as you said, the ground is
the outer pin. I then measured the flash, and it was fortunately the
same. The two-pin common fork plug on the strobe even has a lock to
prevent it from being reversed, very nice for a first ever portable
electronic flash made! (it's a very old Braun Hobby Eletric, with two
corded bare bulb heads with plastic reflectors, and gives that nice
old 50s speedgraphic reportage light).
I look forward to using it on the DSLR ;-)
