The subject of the photo is a piece by Hong Kong artist/designer Michael Lau. He' s largely credited with creating what has generally become known as "Urban Vinyl" - limited edition artist-designed action figures of sorts. They originally took a lot of inspiration from hip-hop culture, but, at least in Michael's case, have branched off in other conceptual directions.

Marco,
What a cool shot. Looks like that thing could be a lot of fun, but I think I'd only want one if I had digital. I'm guessing that there must be a lot of crap shots to sift through before a decent one (like yours) comes along. Or not, who knows?
Anyway, I really like that shot. Made me think of the song "Rocket Man" by Sir Elton John.
BTW, what ~is~ that thing you photographed. Some sort of a bendy doll thing?
cheers, frank
