Wow - that makes me feel better about the X's Drive. So far it has not locked up or demonstrated any other problems....

Sorry to hear it, Mark.

I have use of a Flashtrax, which has generally done me just fine. I used it a lot in Hungary last September, where I used it to back up 7 GB of CF cards. If I had needed to reuse any of those cards, it would have been my only source for some of the images.

Generally all transfers went well. A couple of times, though, it froze up during the transfer and would not finish. The only way to unfreeze it was to unplug it from the wall and take out its batteries, all while it was running. This didn't seem to harm any files on either the Flashtrax itself or the CF card. Subsequent transfers went fine.

I don't know what caused this. There may be a firmware upgrade, but I haven't gone looking for it.

Joe
