That explains the problem, mines still on 1.11. In case anyone cares
the 1.12 upgrade for Photo Assistant seems to be to use it with K/M
lenses, otherwise it works fine without that upgrade.

Paul, what firmwear version are you using?

I've used a number of K lenses with Photo Assistant, most recently
the K 85/1.8 and the Vivitar S1 90/w.5. Photo Assistant fired the
camera without problem and the review appeared on the screen.

Here's a question, I decided to download Pentax Remote Photo
Assistant, which works very well, although the transfer speed
leaves a bit to be desired. However I had a commission from a
local artist to make some record photos of his work and decided to
use the *ist-D tethered to the my computer for the job, and the
best flat field "short" lens with good correction. So I grab my
SMC-M 50 f1.7 and, the damned software won't fire the camera, it
only works if you have a A F or FA lens mounted. I ended up using
the 43mm limited. It's sharp but suffers from a bit more
distortion than the 50 1.7.
It's the long way around but has anyone else tried a [K]/M lens on
the *ist-D with Photo Assistant and had this problem or is it just
me...
