Who cares if the people in the front are able to debark first at the terminal?

I certainly don't, because they paid more for the privilege. Having said that, after 6 hours flying in economy class I'm starting to get very bored, 8 hours I'm getting impatient, and after 12 hours I'm going to kiss the bloody runway when I finally get off. I hate long-haul. I learned very quickly that a window seat and a pair of earplugs are absolute necessities if I want to be able to sleep.

I always wonder about the crush to get off airplanes. Geez, people
elbowing their way out of their seats to get into the aisle, the
people in the aisle elbowing them back down. You end up waiting 1/2
hour for your damned luggage anyways...

I don't mind waiting for luggage, except for the time it nearly cost me a connecting flight because the flight was late and the baggage handlers were absurdly slow. Getting close to the front of the queue at Immigration is wonderful. At least you can walk around when waiting for your luggage.
