Anyway, I played it safe and only took the Optio S in a plastic bag with me on the canoe. I had the 67 and *ist D in a backpack on dry land for when we had lunch. It was a working afternoon and I only took a few shots with the Optio S from the canoe.
Anyway, as we were headed back to our starting point, we were in the flight pattern of the airport. I thought about it once we were on land, but there are probably quite a few people that would have enjoyed being in my position. About 200 feet above us we had two F-16 jets come in for a landing, followed immediately by two F/A-22 jets and on their tail a couple of F-15 Fighters. I did not think of taking any shots - not that there was an interesting point of view anyway. Others would have taken advantage of the opportunity...
There were a couple of cars just off the road with people staring at the approaching planes. They were apparently retired and one had a set of binoculars and another a film camera. They were fortunate since within a ten minute span there were 10 F/A-22 approaches for landing. Just another ordinary day for me, but so rare and exciting for others.
Hoping to get out with the new gear this weekend,
