epson 4990

This appears to be the latest pro-sumer scanner from epson.  I was 
looking to get the previous generation epson 4870, but then this popped 
up.  Anybody here heard anything about it or tried one?  I'm curious as 
to how well it does with slides, since I have alot of chromes I want to 
scan and so far they have proven elusive with most scanners.
