Here's an interesting little experiment you can do. You need a relatively docile cat to experiment on.
What you do is pick the cat up with one hand underneath as is normal to support the animals weight, but with the other hand, grasp a handful of cat at the neck, much like that lynx queen is doing, and lift slightly.
The cat will probably relax completely.
It's helpful for if you have to do some doctoring on the animal when it is awake.
