Since the great knarf has commented I will add details. Shot with a 20D, 300/4 IS lens with 1.4x TC on a monopod. > The two willets is a terrific photo. The others are very good, that > one's the best by far. Beautitful symmetry, both the birds and the > reflections. Love the OOF bird - it's just right, IMHO. This is the first time ever that I've used an AF point other than dead center. I used the little joystick thingy to selct one of the outer AF points to get the foreground bird in focus and opened up enough to keep the other bird OOF. But I'm not surprised that YOU liked the blurry bits of the picture! :-) > I think using Pentax lenses would have made it just a teeny bit > better, but I'm picking nits here <vbg>. I won't go there for list-sanity sake. I think I've caused enough of a disturbance in the past week. > Seriously, you're now going > to tell us that you used like a 400mm lens handheld at like 1/60th, > right? <LOL> HAR! No. It was f8 at 1/640 (really f5.6; but th canon cameras actually show you the effect of the TC in the viewfinder display and metadata. The metadata shows the focal length as 420mm. I've only used Sigma TCs on the ist D so I don't know if the viewfinder or metadata display the compensated for focal length or f-stop when using Pentax TCs). IS was engaged but pretty ineffective at that shutter speed. Oh it was ISO 200 one stop up from the minimum. > Well done (no matter what camera you used, as it's the photographer > who takes the photo, not the equipment - no smiley there...). Thanks frank. It means a lot to me. Christian
