I took posting on three fora, but here apparently is the answer (in case someone other than me was interested). This is from the dpreview PC forum:
"PSCS2 seems to run OK with my AMD Athlon 1.4GHz, 1 GB ram. It's no speed demon but adequate...I don't work with files much bigger that 5-10mb at this point. Bridge is a little slow until it builds up a cache for the photo folders. Increase pagefile.sys and ram available to PS as much as you can." Thanks, everyone. Joe
