Seem both are about the same price. I do not have any compact flash so I don't care. I have old lenses so TTL buil-tin flash would be nice. Vertical grip/ battery grip would be nice too.
Other than that. I do not see why choosing the D ?
Differences in performance are small. I have no desire or need for a battery grip, the DS is generally still a couple hundred dollars cheaper despite close out prices on the D, the D writes files more slowly and uses the larger form factor CF cards.
I bought the DS and am quite satisfied with it. I've thought about buying a D to complement/back it up, but the CF card vs SD card business has stopped me so far. Of course, I could use an SD card adapter in the D, but that seems a bit of fussiness.
