More interesting things happening today: I got a message on my answering machine from a local photo studio saying they wanted to talk to me about my listing on hollywoodauditions.com. I've never heard of hollywoodauditions.com, so I was quite surprised by this. I called up the local studio and soon worked out the program: hollywoodauditions.com is a web directory scam. You pay them to be listed in their "Prestigious Directory" and your business takes off. Yeah, right. They picked my web page to be one of the lucky ones who gets a free listing to try to convince others that "these people paid $500 to be listed, so you should, too!" The local studio suspected the scam from the beginning and called me just to confirm. After I confirmed the scam we had a long and enjoyable talk about photography and the end result is that I may end up getting some work from them. They obviously found my web page from the directory listing which I didn't pay for :) and liked what they saw. Now there's an opportunity coming out of nowhere! -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
