My Linux server is called "smurf". That's because I painted its front panel dark blue several years ago (the rest is black). It looks a bit nicer than the original beige.
The Mac is called "garfield" to keep with the big-cat theme. When I was a kid I spent my lawn mowing money on Garfield books. I still have them today but I no longer get paid for mowing the lawn.
My h/w development machine (also Linux) is called "mayhem" after Project Mayhem from the movie Fight Club.
There are more but you get the idea - I don't have any kind of consistent naming scheme. I'm planning to buy a Powerbook soon... I was going to keep with the Garfield theme and call it Nermal but thought it'd be too girly. I might call it 'scratch' instead as that'd be a good cat name.
