I'm not sure about the mirror box though it certainly feels metalic, but the chassis is very rigid in construction quite surprisingly so. I don't really like plastic bodied cameras but that's a personal preference, having owned MX's, KX's and 1 LX, but the build of the -5, -5n and 3 are quite reassuring maybe this is what the major cost difference is between the -5n and say the MZ-6!?
