I agree that it's a bit soft, but it's taken me about 6 years of trying to get this shot. I got about 6 shots of this one, but this is the best one compositionally. I don't know whether the softness is due to the bird moving, or the fact that I was only about 100 feet away and he was outrunning the AF with the 300mm lens.

I well remember that turkeys were very rare back in the 50s and 60s. Now, after serious restocking efforts, they're downright common, almost as common as those flying rats you Canadians have infested us with :-)

BTW,  you'll get your chance at GFM.

Got the nice colours of the bird,but it looks a smidge soft. Probably due the speed of the
bird
movement,but still pretty good anyway.


By the size of the beard,i would say its probably from last years hatchings or at best,
2003.


We have the birds back in Ontario now,after being reintroduced in the early 80's.
There are TONs of them now.:-)
