The even was a street sermon, they had a small brass band (really poor) which would lure people out onto the street to see what the racket was then when enough people were in view that would launch into a god fearing sermon over a loud-speaker. A really unusual occurrence around where I live, so they ended up with a lot of curious onlookers.
