FWIW the 029 is a pan/tilt head. I think the 027 is a set of legs.
I have used the 6x7 successfully off a Manfrotto 055, but it is a marginal tripod at best.
Mirror shake isn't a problem, but shutter induced vibration can be.
I found that resting my hand on the prism during exposure mitigates most of the shake.
I use the 055 with my 6x7 all the time (it's all I have). I always use the MLU and rest my hand on the finder, and I've had no problems at all. Having said that I never raise either the third leg-section or the centre column unless it's absolutely necessary.
