I think people rather like it, provided a window doesn't fall on their head.
It is really enormous when you get up close. I don't mean particularly high,
but kind of bulky. I like it. They can do very fancy shows with the
building's lighting.

The skyline of London is changing very quickly. Sometimes for better,
sometimes for worse. The Isle of Dogs is sprouting towers like you wouldn't
believe. When there just the one tower at Canary Wharf it completely
dominated the view from Greenwich Park, and rather spoiled it. But now that
there's a reasonable cluster of towers it looks ok. So I think these things
often depend on context.

I personally think that London probably needs more towers to help it
maintain its status as a world city. The important question is, where to put
them.

I am not in favour of filling the traditional central areas with towers, and
in particular I think the view of St. Paul's must be protected. However I
don't mind them on the Isle of Dogs, and there are proposals to build a lot
of tall towers on the Greenwich Peninsular, very close to where I live (10
minutes walk). Again, I think it's a reasonable place for them, provided the
World Heritage Site is properly respected. There is a proposal to build a
pair of extremely tall towers at the end of my street, right next to the
river and dominating some important historical sites. I, along with many
other people, have formally objected to this on a number of grounds, among
them the effect on the sky and riverscape, and the views to and from the
World Heritage Site.
