Thanks all. Lens is working. I used lighter fluid and then alcohol and about a dozen Q-tips to remove the diaphragm oil.
Thought I was being careful but still lost the damn little click stop ball bearing and had to rob a too big one from an old spare parts lens and drill out the hole.
