I'm not sure that this will help, but I'll post it anyway (WARNING: 50
shots in this gallery):

These were all shot with the *ist D using the AF500 FTZ flash (except
the last 10), 28-105 4.5-5.6 PZ (for about the first half), 31 & 77
Ltd's for the rest. Shooting distances between 1-5 metres with the
flash angled at 75 degrees.

In regards to recycling times. I was shooting & f8 for the first 14 &
f5.6 for the rest of the flash shots & I didn't have to wait for the
flash to recharge once.

There's nothing special here, these are just a series of shots
documenting a family get together.
