Some of us (specifically me) can't take a photograph with a camera. 
Here's my reality:

My camera's not in position at just the right moment about 90% of the
time.  About 5% of the time the camera is in position but I've
forgotten to advance the film.  The other 5% of the time I haven't
advanced the film, the right moment lingers, and I try to advance the
film only to find I'm at the end of the roll.  Since I really do try
to give 110%, I don't have my camera 10% of the time.

I'm not sure who wrote my "rules of photography", but I'd like to kick his ass.
