I have Bryan Peterson's book, "Understanding Exposure." Can't say I've read it, because I haven't. OTOH, I have about 6-8 photography books I haven't read yet. Including "Real Camera Raw," which I have read about 1 chapter of, but it looks pretty informative.
I think Peterson's book is supposed to be one of the better ones, and not so technical, a novice couldn't get it. Maybe too dumbed down for some, but I am looking through it now and it looks pretty good, not too dumbed down for me, it covers a wide range of topics on the matter -- side lighting, shutter speed, exposure meters, freezing action. All the basic stuff and a bit more. HTH, Marnie aka Doe
