I have a cheap suntar K 2x converter meant to work that way. The
coupler is crap and it doesn't
work in any capacity, got jammed on an MX once, I was lucky to get it
off. You get what you pays for... Sometimes.

Off-Brand auto 2x and 3x converters can be had for next to nothing.
Take the glass out and you have very cheap auto extension tubes.

They do exist but they're much less common than the standard ones. I
have a set of the non-auto Pentax tubes and have never felt the need for
auto-diaphragm.
