I reported an insider rumor here a couple of years ago that Pentax was seeking
their own Fab capability, either outright or by lease. I have neither seen, nor
heard anything more about that.
I can tell folks one thing, if Sony acquires Pentax, Pentax is dead. Sony
absorbs other companies, the do not maintain them. You would be able to by a
Sony/Pentax until the old stock is gone and that would be it.
