I wanted the statue nailed on center (I have several other shots
without the live surfer in the frame) as I liked the feel of its
upright message, dominating over the water and the sky. There was
very little room to the right to work with... that fencing runs up
against the sidewalk and curb, there were bicycles, people and
traffic in that direction that distracted from the effect I was
looking for.
Then the surfer stepped in to 'do homage' and this photo was made... :-)
