Here's a question for D and DS owners: What media do you think the new DSLR would be utilizing? Seeing as how the current rumor is Sony merging with Pentax - Sony uses memory stick. If it's CF cards then DS owners would be stuck with the current model until the next round of Dslrs come by. Same thing with D owners if the new model uses SD cards.
I have several Gbytes worth of CF, SD and Memory Stick PRO media cards already. I tend to prefer SD because I like the small size, speed, and handling ease, but media is just a commodity.
I tend to think that Pentax will release their next DSLR with SD or maybe CF/SD capability. Sony has fitted their latest higher end camera (F828) with CF compatibility as well as Memory Stick PRO, but then they're also using Memory Stick Duo PRO for the smaller cameras and devices too.
Regardless of what media is used, I'll buy another camera when I see a reason/need to take advantage of improved features. The camera's functionality is more important than what media for it might cost. 3 Gbytes of storage in any format is around $250 these days, and that's about what I need (and I already have that in all three of my current media formats).
