Cheers, Cotty ========== Okay, I looked it up. It's still against California state law to pick poppies or even to destroy them. Supposedly for environmental reasons, and because it's the state flower. (But see previous post about that, because I think the original law was passed back when, when people were still worried about opium dens -- due to the immigration of Chinese into California during Gold Rush days.) So, basically, all those weed wacking fools who are weed wacking poppies out of existence are breaking the law. Nice to know. I am not sure, but I think it was also against California state law at one point to cultivate poppies in any way too. But I have since run across some things that indicate some people are buying poppy seeds and scattering them. Evidentially it is not against the law to buy CA poppy seeds. At least not now. More on that later. Someone else pipe in if they know more. Since I learned that I have been tempted to buy a bunch of bags of seeds and scatter them next year. Down with weed wacking state/county/city employees who are destroying all our poppies!!! Marnie aka Doe ;-)
