Hi Ken

The range of adjustments include:  white balance, levels, saturation,
gamma, sharpen and noise reduction.

It's probably worth downloading a few of these converters. One that
I've found interesting is RAWDrop.  This is a free utility and it's
just a graphical front end to dcraw.  It allows you to set some basic
settings and then just produces a TIF or PSD file that can be edited
elsewhere.
