I felt the same way but was limited by the Z-1p and its single AF sensor. I might not have been paying enough attention either because it was a pretty cold day.
We had a bellbird in our garden today but the moment I pressed the button half-way to focus, the noise of the AF system scared not only the bellbird but all of the waxeyes as well. And the fantail. I was not amused. How long have other brands had those quiet ultrasonic motors?
I suppose it doesn't matter so much because the winder would have scared them anyway (but after I'd taken at least one photo). Maybe I'll buy an *ist-DS and put the lens on manual.
