The ST is also without the high speed synch and trailing curtain synch. I originally bought the ST without realizing that the Super was available. I returned it and bought the Super. It's well worth the extra bucks. And, as you said, it works very well with the Pentax digital SLRs.

As I await arrival of the *istDS, I am left pondering the flashes that I can
use with it. The manual makes reference to a Pentax AF360FGZ.

Currently, I use a Sunpak Auto 266D with a Zx-5n. I am not sure if this flash is compatible with the *istDS. If I were to invest in a Pentax flash, am I limited to the AF360FGZ? My needs are relatively "simple" & non-fancy. I don't think that I would ever use the "wireless" capabilities of the 360FGZ. What are
others using?

The Sigma EF-500 DG Super is outstanding with the ist-D. It's about
$200.00. I haven't tried the less expensive Sigma flash, the EF-500 DG
ST but I think it's just slightly lower powered and without some of the
advanced features like wireless flash.
